Responses to Escape from Torry
Island
Hi Kenny,
Myself and 5 other girls that
participated in the adventure race wanted to thank you for a wonderful experience
last Sat. on Torry Island! We had a
great time and realized that you and your team put tons of work into organizing
it.
If you could keep my e-mail
on file and let me know if there are any other adventure races in the area I would
really appreciate it.
Thank you again,
Hey Kenny,
Just wanted to say
thanks for putting on the race. It
was great to race somewhere other than the typical
Central Florida
state park and where nobody has raced before.
Sorry we couldn't hang around after (I wanted to after seeing the big BBQ
pit pull in that morning) but Jason and I both had to go straight to work.
I'll definitely be back next year!
Also, thank your school kids for me for coming out to help too (on a weekend!),
it's tough to find volunteers for theses races.
Next time you want
to put a race on out there contact Jason and I through Clubscrub.org and we'll do
whatever you need to help out. At the
very least we'll be able to round up more teams to come out and race.
Thanks again,
Ken Kandefer (racing
with Jason Willems)
P.S. Keep the zip line!
Hey Kenny,
First of all, I hope you got
some needed rest and are feeling better.
I just wanted to thank you
for a wonderful race. We REALLY enjoyed it and will most definitely come back next
year. Now that I know what it will be like, I can encourage more people to participate.
My friend, who would never do anything like this, even enjoyed it. She will not
ride the mountain bike at Oleta or Markham but this terrain worked out fine for
her. Fred and Bill are my two lunatic friends that are up for anything. They enjoyed
it too.
Regarding the course, I think
the zip line was the hit of the day. What a blast! I wanted to go do it again :)
A few possibilities for next year given the terrain and cost of materials might
be: army crawl under some type of netting (maybe in some mud :), small obstacle
course of some kind maybe with a tire run, small wall climb with rope or carrying
something in a fifty yard dash. I will have to think about it a little more but
the stuff you had was great. The bones slowed us down a bit and even with your great
directions, I messed up checkpoint 2 and 3 and lost about 4 minutes. The good thing
is we just wanted to have fun and a good workout. That we did!
Last but not least, your volunteers
did a great job and I tried to tell them all that we appreciated them being there.
I know they were hot and tired at the end.
Thanks again,
Linda
Hi, I'm
Linda Semko
's adventure race partner and just wanted to thank you for putting on a fun race.
Everything was laid out to where it was
easy to follow.
I would certainly do it again.
Your volunteers were
great too!
Thanks again!

You did an outstanding
job with the adventure race on Sat. I will definitely sign up for it again
next year. I will be sure to tell all my friends. Your volunteers were
so good. I can’t say enough about the event and the experience.

Hi Kenny,
Just wanted to say thanks
again for a great race yesterday! I heard several comments from competitors
such as, “There is no way in hell that I will not do that race again next year.
I had so much fun!" Greg and hade great time. It really was well organized
and thought out- and a perfect race for beginners with the marked trails.
See you around,
Rob

Kenny,
Just wanted to say thanks again for the event yesterday, we had a great time. The
course was well marked and the checkpoints were fun. The zip line of course was
the best. Keep me on your list for future events. Thanks again for all your efforts.
